What Is It?
Myotherapy is the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction using evidence
based treatment techniques. Myotherapists are trained manual therapy professionals in the field of myofascial pain and dysfunction (pain that can be caused from the muscles and surrounding connective tissue).
Myotherapists take into account all aspects of health and wellness when treating clients – this includes not only physical, but psychological, occupational and the active daily living aspects of the clients lifestyle.
Myotherapy treatments incorporate the following:
A thorough client history, observations of tissues, movement, and gait, postural
assessment, palpation of spine, peripheral joints, musculature, connective tissue and
associated organs, clinical orthopaedic and neurological tests.
How Can It Help You?
Myotherapy can reduce, remove or improve your pain and dysfunction. It can improve and increase your ability to move. Help with sleep and improve overall health and wellness.
What Does It Involve?
First and foremost, Rachael will assess your presentation, be it a sprain, strain, pain that just started or has been with you for ages and you don’t know why.
Once she has an understanding of what is going on in your body, she will design the best treatment plan for you, based on your likes and dislikes, understanding and expectations of the treatment techniques she is trained to use.
If Rachael has a technique new to you that she believes is the most effective to treat your presentation, she will explain it to you in full and gain your consent before using it.
